This page describes how SCREENS LANDSCAPE ("this journal") handles information about its readers.

This journal is operated by the SCREENS LANDSCAPE Administration Office (Tokyo). Information about the operating company, and matters concerning the handling of retained personal data, will be provided without delay upon request through the contact listed below.
Information We Collect and Why
This journal does not use analytics tools or advertising trackers of its own. The only situation in which we collect personal information directly is when you contact us by email.
Information received with an enquiry (name, email address, and the content of the enquiry) is used solely to respond to the enquiry and for editorial verification where necessary. It is not shared with third parties except as required by law.
Transmission of Visitor Information to Third Parties
As a matter of editorial policy, this journal does not re-host images or video; media appears through official embeds provided by the original publishers. As a result, viewing an article may transmit certain information about you to the third-party services below. In line with the external-transmission disclosure rules of the Japanese Telecommunications Business Act, we list each recipient, the information transmitted, and its purpose.

Loaded only if you agree; if you decline, no request is made to Google at all. Only the page path is sent — never the query string, which can carry a preview-link token. Views of the admin screens, preview links, and the login page are excluded. Data is transferred outside your country, including to the United States.
In addition, official embeds from trusted hosts (iframes) that appear within articles may transmit similar information to their providers. Every embed displays its provider (credit) and official page (source).
Information Stored in Your Browser
This journal does not set cookies of its own. Only the minimum information needed for display — such as your theme preference (localStorage) — is stored in your browser. This information is never transmitted externally.
Our analytics (Google Analytics 4) does use cookies. We therefore ask on your first visit and load it only if you allow it. If you decline, the Google script is never loaded and no request is made.
Either way, the choice itself is stored in localStorage — not a cookie, so it never travels with a request. To change it, clear this site's data in your browser.
A single authentication cookie is issued only when an editorial staff member signs in to the admin screens. Readers are never issued one.
Choosing “Decline” stops the Google Analytics script from loading and deletes the cookies it had already set.
