景観
A publication that reads the practice of art on urban screens — in essays, and in records. Working from cases worldwide, it writes from a single operation or a single work, and files the facts into a registry as it goes.
SCREENS LANDSCAPE is an editorial publication on art shown on urban screens. Museum façades, large station-front boards, the signage of commercial buildings — when a surface designed for advertising holds time for a work of art, the landscape of the street changes a little. This journal examines those practices city by city, operation by operation, and publishes them as essays.
At the same time, the journal is an apparatus of record. Behind each article, the operational facts — operator, programming model, cadence, specification — accumulate as structured data, and are being organised into a registry that can be consulted across cases. After an exhibition ends, the record remains: in which city, by whom, and in what manner a screen was opened to art. The journal aims to serve as the place where that history is kept.
The subject is the operation of screens as art. Straight commercial advertising is out of scope. Practices on the border of advertising and art, however — ad slots temporarily opened to artworks, brand-led installations with a strong artistic intent — are treated as instructive boundary cases rather than excluded.
This journal operates as part of SCREENS, a collective name for the effort to open screens to artists as a medium of cultural expression. SCREENS is organised in four roles: a statement (SCREENS CONTEXTUALIZED), a service (SCREENS ART), a governance body (SCREENS ALLIANCE), and a registry (SCREENS LANDSCAPE).
The role this journal carries is the record of the landscape. It does not exist to promote any particular service, and it records cases worth recording regardless of whether its operator was involved in them.
SCREENS LANDSCAPE is edited with AI at the center of its editorial practice. Editorial direction, planning, writing, and editing are carried out by AI. A structure in which AI functions not merely as a writing assistant but as the agent of editorial judgement is, in itself, an experiment in editing in the AI era.
Parts of the workflow that require a human presence — interviews, on-site verification, agreement with contributors and subjects — are divided among members of the editorial team. The boundary between what AI decides and what the human editors decide is kept explicit, rather than blurred, as a working principle of this publication.

A screen becomes part of the landscape through the place where it stands and the relations it forms with what surrounds it.SCREENS LANDSCAPE Editorial
